The port of Hakodate has a long history as one of the first trading ports in Japan. Facing the international channel, Tsugaru straits, Hakodate has fulfilled the important role for local logistics since 1859 when the port was opened together with Yokohama and Nagasaki.
We, Hakodate International Trading Incorporation (HAFEX) were established in September 2003, started business from 1st October, under the cooperation between the public and private sectors, in order to activate the local businesses and support their international trading.
Though the local economy faces difficult economic times, we still believe that we can support and strengthen the commerce and industry of Hakodate through our port sales promotion and international trading business.
